01 / ABOUT THE PLACE

About this place

For a sweet way to explore the differences between Japanese teas, try the small tasting set on the 2 floor: three kinds of tea and gelato, served with matching chilled drinks. It pairs Shizuoka gyokuro, genmaicha and 200°C-roasted hojicha gelato with cold-brewed versions of the same teas; the menu lists it at 1,650 yen. Diners who have tried the set have mentioned genmaicha gelato and hojicha as favourites. Tasting all three side by side makes it easier to find your own.

If you have time for a leisurely breakfast, matcha French toast is another option. One diner’s breakfast included the toast with egg, bacon and salad, followed by the accompanying gelato. Another description of the morning set mentions French toast, gelato and salad, as well as a selection that lets you sample small servings of Japanese tea and juice.

For a simpler matcha treat, choose gelato made with Uji matcha and Hokkaido fresh cream, or matcha soft serve finished with Uji matcha powder. The soft serve is listed at 700 yen. You can enjoy it with a drink in the café or take it away at the shopfront.
